Sigma Nursing is a nonprofit that helps nurses build leadership and communication skills. Faced with the pandemic and a staffing shortage, many nurses were thrust into leadership roles with little formal training and needed to communicate calmly under extreme pressure; Sigma sought an accessible way to teach the soft skills required to support careers and improve patient and family interactions.
To address this, Sigma launched a nurse empowerment program using curated LinkedIn Learning courses—covering topics like resilience, positive workplace behavior, leadership, high-stress communication, and conflict resolution—paired with pre- and post-assessments. The program increased nurses’ confidence and readiness to meet hospital needs: 93% said the courses helped their leadership practice, 99% said the program added value to their development, and 66% of those who applied for promotion felt prepared because of the program.
