Allstate, a Fortune 100 insurance company headquartered in Northbrook, Illinois, needed to hire large numbers of highly specialized Agents and Personal Financial Representatives — 1,400 appointments in 2009 — who must be independent business-builders with licenses, verified production history and the willingness to invest in an agency. After outsourcing recruiting for two years, Allstate brought the function in-house to meet these stringent requirements and to maintain continuous sourcing for hard-to-find, passive candidates.
Allstate built a dedicated sourcing team (eight sourcers and 30 recruiters) and expanded LinkedIn Recruiter access from a single seat to 11, using the tool for both targeted searches and networking. Features like shared “Team Projects” folders and pooled InMail improved collaboration and knowledge transfer, putting higher-quality candidates in front of sales leaders. The result: a healthier pipeline, year-over-year increases in candidate flow, and greater control over recruiting outcomes.
