Magnet school preps students for the workplace with on-demand instruction

East Career & Technical Academy, a 1,700‑student magnet high school in Las Vegas, needed on‑demand video resources to support its shift to project‑based and blended learning across diverse career pathways. Teachers were struggling to create their own tutorials to teach software, technical and workplace skills for programs ranging from graphic design and IT to culinary arts and healthcare.

In 2013 the district adopted lyndaCampus, giving site‑wide lynda.com access and allowing teachers to integrate expert video courses into classes and internship prep. The service freed teachers’ prep time, enabled more personalized instruction, and put students in charge of learning—students and staff now use lynda.com for software training, career skills, portfolios and professional development, helping better prepare graduates for the workplace.
