How this Company Inspired Their Employees to Learn an Hour a Week

Econet Wireless, Zimbabwe’s largest telecommunications provider, wanted to create a culture of lifelong learning so employees could upskill and stay competitive in a rapidly changing industry. To do this they purchased LinkedIn Learning licenses and set an “achievable” company-wide goal: one hour of learning per week, taken during work time.

Econet supported the rollout with a multi-channel campaign—teaser videos, office posters, executive roadshows, weekly sharing, and tying courses to performance goals and internal mobility—so learning became a visible habit. Two months after launch 94% of employees had used the platform and averaged nearly four hours of learning per month, with leadership buy-in driving high engagement and plans to link usage to business performance and retention.
