The EPA Office of Multimedia, which supports the agency’s communications across 10 regions and helps produce up to 200 projects a year, faced a skills gap as digital tools and platforms evolved. With tight budgets and a fast-paced field schedule, staff couldn’t attend costly, multi-day off-site training and relied on unreliable web searches, leaving little opportunity for ongoing, role-specific learning.

In 2011 the team subscribed to lynda.com, giving everyone on-demand access to a comprehensive video library they could use at their own pace. The service accelerated migrations to Adobe CS6 and new Canon digital workflows, enabled in-house animation and green-screen work, provided printable course completion certificates for reviews, and delivered cost-effective, just-in-time training that boosted staff capabilities and productivity.
