Lingotek Helps SketchUp Auto-mate Translation, Localization for Global Markets

SketchUp, a Trimble subsidiary that provides easy-to-use 3D modeling software for architecture, construction and related industries, needed a faster, integrated way to localize content for a large global user base (about 40% of business from overseas). After moving its CMS to Drupal, SketchUp’s prior TMS didn’t integrate, forcing separate workflows for web and desktop localization; the company therefore required a cloud-based solution that handled multiple resource file formats and enabled real-time collaboration across offices.

Trimble implemented Lingotek Inside-Drupal with machine translation, post-edit workflows and automatic XLIFF conversion, enabling translation of websites and desktop interfaces into nine languages. Lingotek processed an initial 569‑file batch, dramatically reduced turnaround times, eliminated manual file-by-file work, supported cloud collaboration and delivered high-accuracy translations in time for the next major SketchUp release.
