Lingotek Helps Princess Cruises Manage “Translation At Sea”

Princess Cruises, a leading global cruise line serving about 1.7 million guests annually, built the Princess@Sea web application as the onboard Wi‑Fi landing page and central hub for cruise information. With more than 60,000 words across hundreds of pages, the IT team needed a Drupal‑integrated translation solution that supported configurable workflows, translation memory and both in‑house and third‑party linguists — all while accommodating limited shipboard bandwidth and scheduling translations during non‑peak hours.

Lingotek’s cloud TMS with the Inside Drupal integration automated import/export, prefilled content from translation memory, and provided a user‑friendly review interface for internal linguists, plus Lingotek’s global services for custom taxonomy translation. The staged migration workflow enabled land‑based translation and ship deployment without disrupting guests; the result was a successfully localized Princess@Sea that improved guest personalization and onboard content management, reduced engineering overhead, and produced collateral translations used across the fleet.
