Preview of the LUSH Case Study

Building an eCommerce Platform That Scales 365 Days a Year

LUSH, the British cosmetics retailer, partnered with digital agency FFW to rebuild its eCommerce platform after a 2014 Boxing Day outage revealed the site couldn’t handle the massive annual sale traffic. The brief was to deliver a highly available, globally localized commerce platform that could spin up country-specific shops, support translations and consistent reporting, and reliably scale during huge traffic surges.

FFW delivered a cloud-based Drupal Commerce platform with Cloudflare caching, synchronized orders, a multilingual Mobile API, automated translations, external payment integrations and an Android app, designed to support 17 live markets and scale to 100. The result: online orders quadrupled year-over-year, 90% of discounted products sold out, sessions rose +75%, digital orders +64% and cart abandonment fell 16%, earning industry recognition for its mobile commerce experience.
