Sourcefabric - Customer Case Study

Sourcefabric is a Czech non‑profit (with teams in Berlin and Toronto) that builds open‑source tools for independent journalism like Newscoop, Airtime, Booktype and Superdesk. Their challenge was scaling localization across many languages and volunteer contributors—handling tricky scripts (Georgian, Arabic), avoiding formatting errors and duplicated effort, and integrating translations into a GitHub‑based development workflow—so they adopted Lingohub’s cloud localization platform.

By using Lingohub to manage .po files and enable online, collaborative translation with GitHub push‑back, Sourcefabric centralized and streamlined community translations, reduced formatting mistakes and duplicate work, and sped up releases. The move produced measurable results: they are localized in 15 languages and have started work on 15 more, with improved support for complex and right‑to‑left languages and smoother integration back into their codebase via Lingohub.
