Wowtel, Australia’s leading IP provider, needed a complete greenfield communications system for a newly developed retirement village, with the goal of delivering VoIP, IPTV, and Internet connectivity. Because availability was critical for the retirement community, Wowtel turned to LINBIT and its DRBD®-enabled high availability solution.

LINBIT implemented a cluster using DRBD® with Heartbeat on two Dell 2950 servers, replicating the primary server and ensuring services would restart automatically if a failure occurred. The result was a reliable, rock-solid HA setup that Wowtel said worked extremely well after testing, and the company stated it would continue using LINBIT DRBD® for future mission-critical projects.
