A LINBIT Case Study
Midland County 911, operating the Midland County Central Dispatch Authority, needed a highly reliable backup Public Safety Answering Point to keep emergency dispatch services running during disasters or outages. They were looking for a way to make their Windows-based Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) system available at both the primary and backup sites without the cost and complexity of traditional SAN-based virtualization.
LINBIT provided a solution built on Xen virtualization with openSUSE Linux and DRBD-replicated storage across two commodity servers. This delivered high availability and live virtual machine migration without a SAN or expensive VMware licensing, and Midland County 911 reported that LINBIT helped them implement the infrastructure quickly and at a fraction of the cost of competing options, improving reliability for responders, staff, and the community.
