A LillyWorks Case Study
Arch Global Precision, a manufacturer of precision cutting tools, precision machined industrial components, and medical implants and instruments, was struggling with traditional ERP scheduling across much of its business, including the Cutting Tool Division. At its UltraDex plant, production planning and execution had become “controlled chaos,” on-time delivery was slipping, and the team was having trouble managing priority battles on the shop floor. LillyWorks introduced Protected Flow Manufacturing (PFM) to help address these issues.
With LillyWorks’ PFM, the shop floor gained better visibility into priorities, dependencies, and capacity, including work that had been missed in earlier scheduling decisions. After initial resistance, the team adopted the system and used it to improve timing between make-to-order and make-to-stock work, protect due dates, and identify bottlenecks more effectively. Early on, the plant was two to three weeks behind and over 100 jobs in the hole, but LillyWorks’ approach helped Arch Global Precision move to a more controlled, informed production process with improved trust in the schedule.
