Valley Metro, the 13th busiest light rail system in the U.S. serving over 16 million riders annually across 26 miles and 35 stations, needed to boost passenger satisfaction and enable new operational services after a survey showed 97% of riders wanted onboard Wi‑Fi. The agency required an “always‑on” connectivity solution capable of supporting streaming and web use at an average train speed of 45 mph while integrating with existing onboard systems like the train management computer and network video recorder for remote diagnostics.

LILEE Systems delivered a Connectivity‑as‑a‑Service solution centered on the LMS‑2450 mobile gateway (five 4G‑LTE radios) and cloud‑based vLMC with dynamic load balancing and web‑based management.
