How TestDirectly Helped DuPage County and Reditus Laboratories Create a More Efficient Drive-Through With Faster Test Results

DuPage County Health Department needed a faster, more reliable way to run COVID-19 drive-through testing at its Wheaton collection site. Manual handwritten forms, labor-intensive data entry, and communication barriers at the car-window check-in process were creating bottlenecks, slowing intake, and limiting daily specimen volume. The county worked with LigoLab and its TestDirectly direct-to-consumer lab testing portal to address these problems.

LigoLab implemented a digital workflow that let patients pre-register online, used unique barcodes to match specimens with patient data, and delivered consumer lab reports securely through the portal. The result was faster turnaround times, with specimens typically processed in four to six hours and results generally available about a day after collection. LigoLab also helped DuPage County eliminate 50 percent of its on-site data entry team, expand testing capacity to 600 samples per day, and open an additional drive-through lane while improving access for patients and public health officials.
