Tahoma School District needed a fast, reliable way to keep students learning in person during repeated COVID-19 surges while managing large numbers of close contacts, testing consent, and privacy concerns across its 8,600-student district. The district partnered with LigoLab and used its TestDirectly direct-to-consumer lab testing portal to support a school-based screening and diagnostic testing program with Atlas Genomics.

LigoLab’s TestDirectly platform streamlined scheduling, specimen collection, reporting, and stakeholder communication for the district and lab, replacing manual processes and helping scale testing without creating accessioning bottlenecks. The program averaged about 1,000 specimens processed and reported each week with results delivered within 24 hours, and it helped save thousands of classroom hours by allowing eligible exposed students to remain in school through test-to-stay protocols.
