LandOne Takeoff, founded by Joshua Martin, needed a fast, affordable way for small and medium landscaping contractors to perform accurate material “takeoffs” from landscape plans—a process that was taking 6–8 hours per commercial project when done manually. To address this, LandOne Takeoff worked with LightningCAD, using LightningCAD’s proprietary framework to jumpstart development of a landscaping-specific estimating tool.

Using the LightningCAD framework, the vendor rapidly produced a working prototype that lets users upload plans, annotate landscaping elements to generate counts, and download revised PDFs; the team progressed from P&E to MVP and a fully functional product within months. LightningCAD’s solution has been commercially validated—shown to rave reviews at the 2018 Gulf States Horticultural Expo—and delivers a measurable 50–75% reduction in manual takeoff time, enabling LandOne Takeoff to market an affordable, industry-focused estimating product.
