How The University of Melbourne used Lightcast Data to Help Students Guide Their Careers

The University of Melbourne, a leading institution in Australia, needed to provide its students with accessible and credible career guidance. Its Careers and Employability team required a rigorous solution to show students the skills being taught, the jobs available, and how demand for those skills was shaping up. They turned to Lightcast and its software tools to meet this challenge.

Using Lightcast data, the university created over 115 easy-to-read Study Area Reports tailored to specific majors and degrees. These reports, which detail skills in demand, top employers, and job titles, are housed on a platform for students to access. This Lightcast solution led to increased student engagement and quantifiable results; in one workshop series, 14% of students progressed to the next phase of career readiness after being introduced to the reports.
