A Lightbits Labs Case Study
A largest financial services company faced the challenge of standardizing its storage architecture across its on-premises and AWS environments to enable a cloud-first IT modernization. They required a solution that delivered high performance, low latency, and cost efficiency for migrating Tier 1 database workloads, seeking to avoid repatriating these workloads if a suitable price/performance solution was not found on AWS.
The solution was implemented using the Lightbits cloud data platform on storage-optimized AWS bare metal instances. Lightbits delivered a 95-195% improvement in IOPS and a reduction in latency of up to 300µs compared to native cloud storage, while also reducing storage costs by up to 80%. This performance enabled a seamless hybrid cloud implementation and was projected to save the customer $40.5 million in storage costs over a three-year term.
