FI-TS consolidates 8-node clusters to 5 nodes with Lightbits Labs

FI-TS, a cloud service provider for leading financial institutions in Germany, faced a challenge in its Kubernetes environment. It needed a persistent storage solution that met strict EU and German data-compliance laws while delivering high availability and local flash performance. The company's existing direct-attached storage was inefficient and could not scale independently from compute. FI-TS turned to vendor Lightbits Labs to develop a solution using its LightOS software-defined storage.

Lightbits implemented its LightOS solution, which uses NVMe over TCP, on an Intel hardware foundation. This provided FI-TS with a cloud-native, disaggregated storage platform that delivered the required high performance, scalability, and compliance. The results included improved resource utilization, the ability to scale storage independently, and a reduced total cost of ownership. Lightbits enabled FI-TS to offer its customers a highly differentiated, automated service that could provision environments in minutes instead of days.
