A Lifesize Case Study
The University of Delaware’s Nurse Managed Health Center (NMHC) delivers campus-based primary care, occupational health, fitness and nutrition counseling, and chronic disease management. NMHC faced patients who struggled with chronic illnesses, didn’t know where to go for specialized care, and could not easily travel to distant specialists; the university wanted a telehealth solution to provide real-time education for students and better access to specialists regardless of location.
NMHC adopted Lifesize cloud and HD video systems to conduct remote consultations, stream anatomy and physical therapy sessions, and connect with specialists (including partners at Rutgers) for conditions such as Parkinson’s disease. The telehealth program reduced travel burdens for thousands of patients, enriched student learning through live and recorded sessions, launched pilot community outreach efforts (including a satellite clinic at a homeless service center), and expanded access to specialists globally, improving care and education.
