The National Geographic Society uses LifeSize HD video to reduce travel, stay green

The National Geographic Society, a global non‑profit headquartered in Washington, D.C., needed to cut domestic and international travel to support its environmental mission and reduce rising travel costs. Existing video systems were outdated and underused, so the Society sought a high‑definition, easy‑to‑use communications solution for real‑time collaboration and data sharing across offices.

NGS deployed more than 15 LifeSize HD systems (Room, Team MP, Express) and the LifeSize Networker for ISDN‑to‑IP connectivity across roughly 20 locations, with fixed, cart‑based and planned portable installations for field teams. The result was crystal‑clear audio/video, rapid adoption across departments and with external partners, increased productivity, significant travel reduction and a measurable decrease in the organization’s environmental impact.
