The EBCI Works Smarter with Video Conferencing in the Cloud

The Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians (EBCI), a federally recognized tribe in North Carolina that operates government, health and education services across 56,000 mountainous acres, needed a better way to connect staff spread across long distances. Their on-premise video system required expensive room equipment, ongoing server maintenance, and caused occasional audio and dial-in problems, making meetings and telemedicine difficult to run reliably.

EBCI moved to Lifesize Cloud, letting users join from any personal device, improving audio, and enabling telemedicine, executive and public health meetings without travel. The cloud solution removed costly on‑prem servers and firewall headaches, integrated with Skype for Business, added recording/sharing via Amplify for missed meetings and tutorials, and saved time, money and administrative effort.
