A Lifesize Case Study
North Bristol NHS Trust, a large UK healthcare organisation serving roughly one million patients with 9,000 staff across multiple hospitals and community sites, faced significant inefficiencies from frequent staff travel across a wide, partly rural region. Long commutes between sites and to central meetings wasted clinical time, increased costs and carbon emissions, and the Trust needed a reliable, easy-to-use video conferencing solution with portable units for off-site staff to reduce in-person meetings.
The Trust deployed LifeSize HD video solutions and affordable webcams across workspaces to support multidisciplinary case meetings, weekly nursing coordination, surgical and consultant collaboration, and joint teaching for medical students. Usage rose from 4 hours to about 47 hours of video calls per month, saving an estimated 2,958 kg of carbon annually and about £9,500 per month in staff time and travel—delivering payback within a year and enabling future expansion into recorded teaching and IP-based clinical applications.
