One of Germany’s Leading Universities Uses LifeSize to Bring Worldwide Maritime Experts From The Port to The Classroom

Jacobs University Bremen, an international private university, needed a way to give students hands‑on exposure to rare maritime logistics experts who couldn’t travel to campus. With a focus on active learning, the university required an easy‑to‑use, plug‑and‑play system that could show both the speaker and visual aids simultaneously and integrate seamlessly with room controls.

They implemented LifeSize HD videoconferencing (Room 220 and portable Express 220) with dual screens, a central controller and the LifeSize Video Center to record sessions and smartboard content. The solution enabled regular live lectures and cross‑institutional exchanges with global specialists, allowed remote weekly presentations from port professionals, and broadened students’ international learning opportunities while making sessions simple to run and archive.
