Lifesize Improves Training and Expanded Care at The Shepherd Centre

The Shepherd Centre is an Australian charity that has helped children who are deaf or hearing impaired since 1970, currently supporting nearly 500 children through five centers with a team of about 70 specialists. Faced with rising demand, geographic dispersion of staff and families, and the high cost and disruption of travel, the Centre needed a way to improve clinician training, maintain continuity of therapy for remote or traveling families, and scale services without proportionally increasing travel budgets.

The Centre upgraded to Lifesize’s cloud-based video platform with HD cameras and phones, using live conferencing and recorded sessions for training, mentoring and teleintervention. As a result, staff can join and review trainings remotely, the medical director regularly consults from off-site, teleintervention has reduced cancellations and extended care (including internationally), travel spending has been stabilized despite growth, parent coaching has improved, and recorded clinical sessions are now being used to broaden access and support better outcomes.
