Kaptivo Supports University of Arizona College of Education’s Active Learning Mission

The University of Arizona College of Education, led by Michael Griffith, embraces active learning and wanted to extend that experience to students who cannot attend in person. While Zoom and a telepresence robot (Kubi) let remote students see and look around the room, whiteboard visibility—hindered by glare, distance and people blocking views—kept remote and low-vision students from fully participating.

The college added Kaptivo, a device that digitizes whiteboard content (removing glare and obstructions), streams it to web browsers and integrates with Zoom/Kubi, and saves a searchable timeline of snapshots. The result: remote students now participate as if present, low-vision students can sit anywhere, class content is reliably captured and shared, and the telepresence approach has scaled across the college, improving engagement and group collaboration.
