JSA Changes the Face of Telepsychiatry with LifeSize HD Video Communications

JSA Health Telepsychiatry, founded by emergency psychiatry specialists in 2007, provides on-demand psychiatric evaluations to hospitals, schools, jails and rural clinics across Texas and Louisiana. Faced with a severe shortage of psychiatrists — many counties have no local provider — JSA needed an easy-to-deploy, high-quality telemedicine solution that was flexible, affordable and simple for clinicians and remote sites to use.

Partnering with Unified Communications, JSA deployed LifeSize Express and Passport HD video systems to deliver scalable, lifelike video visits and multipoint consultations. The solution enabled rapid expansion: since the first patient in early 2008 JSA has completed over 45,000 encounters, now serves 25+ clients at 80+ locations, allows psychiatrists to see patients across multiple sites without travel, and greatly improved timely access to specialty care.
