Houston Charter School System Utilizes LifeSize, Microsoft Solutions to Inspire Disadvantaged Students to Succeed

YES Prep Public Schools, a Houston charter system serving over 5,000 predominantly low-income students, needed a cost‑effective way to extend teaching resources across campuses, support advanced courses, and reduce mentor/teacher travel. The district required a video solution that would interoperate with its existing Microsoft Lync environment, be easy for teachers to use, and portable enough to move between classrooms.

YES Prep deployed LifeSize Team 220 endpoints integrated with Microsoft Lync, placing units on mobile carts (funded in part by E‑rate grants). The rollout enabled “team tele‑teach” remote instruction, virtual mentor observations, improved lesson collaboration and professional development, and new learning opportunities (including international exchanges), with rapid teacher adoption and more efficient use of district funds.
