Essex Schools Use LifeSize to Challenge Gifted and Talented Students Through HD Video

LifeSize provided HD video communications for an Essex Schools UK initiative that aimed to give gifted and talented secondary students stretch and challenge across geographically dispersed schools. For the National Year of Reading “From Page to Screen” event, Essex needed reliable conferencing technology and logistical support to run interactive, collaborative learning activities and scale participation beyond the usual cluster of schools.

Working with partner Videonations, the team deployed LifeSize Team MP systems, remotely monitored virtual meeting rooms and loaned extra units so ten schools could join. Students ran the equipment, created video trailers, conducted presentations and peer feedback, and teachers used the sessions to model assessment-for-learning. The result was increased engagement, stronger leadership, teamwork and ICT skills among participants and a successful scalable model for inter-school collaborative learning.
