Statistics Lithuania undergoes system overhaul to manage countrywide statistics

Statistics Lithuania, the national public authority responsible for compiling and publishing the country’s official statistics, faced a challenge: statistical data came from many ministries and institutions and was published in different ways, making it hard for the public to find, compare and use information. They needed a single, user-friendly gateway to deliver consistent, accessible statistics and reduce the reporting and support burden.

They implemented two portals on Liferay Portal—a customer portal for affiliated organizations and an Official Statistics Portal—providing tabular views, interactive graphs and maps, custom datasets, report sharing and online service requests. The solution lowered total cost of ownership, enabled in-house content management and scaled to support up to 1,000 concurrent users, reduced on-site support needs, and is expected to grow as more institutions and indicators are integrated.
