Spanish university makes full use of online portal

The University of the Basque Country (UPV-EHU) is the largest university in the Basque Country and one of Spain’s biggest higher-education institutions, responsible for roughly 70% of regional research and serving tens of thousands of students and staff across multiple campuses and partner colleges. Facing fragmented web resources and legacy systems, the university needed a modern, accessible content management approach that could integrate with open-source tools, unify information across hundreds of sites, and scale to its large user base.

Using Liferay’s content management solutions and student portal capabilities, UPV-EHU implemented a unified, accessible platform that simplified content creation and integration with other tools. The project migrated and upgraded more than 500 websites, consolidated over 100,000 user records and 40,000 HTML content items, and delivered a modern, efficient content manager now serving more than 50,000 users.
