Online sales jump 40% with Fundamenta's new portal

Fundamenta-Lakáskassza, a Budapest-based leader in residential construction financing with over 650,000 customers and 2,000 staff, faced fragmented front-end systems that lacked consistent design and duplicated core functions like sign-on and security. Sales and IT teams wanted a modern, interactive “Web 2.0”-style portal and a stable platform for mission-critical e-processes to improve customer experience and reduce development overhead.

After evaluating 11 products against functionality, technology, vendor and cost criteria and building demos on the top three, Fundamenta selected Liferay Portal. The redesigned customer portal lets users evaluate needs, calculate benefits, and submit contracts online, while a sales extranet and communication tools improved internal information flow. Results included a 37% increase in online sales in 2010 versus 2009 and $15,000/year lower maintenance costs by using an open-source platform, with Liferay EE supplying ongoing security and support.
