Moving to a More Robust Platform

The European Space Agency (ESA) needed to replace its end-of-life Science & Technology platform (sci.esa.int). The legacy site was slow, not mobile-responsive and highly customized, yet the agency required the same look-and-feel and functionality while migrating all historical content, media and URLs without disrupting millions of monthly visitors.

ESA implemented Liferay DXP after a successful proof-of-concept, using standard APIs to migrate content and recreate the CMS so the site retained its appearance and features but became faster and fully responsive. The new platform is future-proof and scalable, lets ESA perform administration internally, and delivered lower subscription and management costs.
