Case Study: MedImpact achieves scalable, lower-cost self-service web portals with Liferay

A Liferay Case Study

Major pharmacy benefit manager updates and integrates systems with Liferay

MedImpact, the nation’s largest independent pharmacy benefit manager serving more than 35 million members, needed to modernize legacy web systems to support rapid growth, dozens of client‑specific sites and a complex, changing regulatory environment (CMS, Section 508). Existing sites required significant IT effort for content, compliance and customization, so MedImpact sought a platform that would integrate with pre‑existing systems while improving development velocity, information access and content management.

MedImpact chose Liferay Portal and partnered with Xtivia to implement a replicable portal architecture with Single Sign‑On, LDAP user/group synchronization, custom portlets and themes, dynamic web content and centralized authN/authZ. The solution enabled self‑service content management, streamlined integration and testing, lowered operational costs for new and private‑label sites, and is now being rolled out across all web properties to boost agility and maintainability.
