Leader in plasma manufacturing saves $1.5 million with new supplier portal

Advanced Energy, a global leader in power conversion for plasma manufacturing and solar energy with about 1,400 employees and over $400M in revenue, faced fragmented, siloed supplier communications (fax, email, phone) and slow, error-prone material-planning updates. Their legacy SAP systems lacked the needed functionality and would have been costly to retrofit, creating delays and high manual touch points across departments and suppliers.

Working with CIGNEX Datamatics, Advanced Energy implemented a Liferay portal integrated with their SAP ECC via SAP Process Integration, adding message boards, document libraries, SSO, alerts, Excel downloads and supplier permissions. The portal streamlined collaboration and forecasting, improved internal and supplier communication, created a reusable architecture for customer portals, and delivered an estimated $1.5 million in savings.
