Case Study: QAD achieves faster development and Google Cloud migration with Liferay DXP

How QAD completed an upgrade to Liferay DXP and migrated to the Google Cloud Platform at the same time

QAD, a global provider of enterprise software for manufacturing, faced the challenge of simultaneously upgrading its long‑time Liferay platform from 6.2 to Liferay DXP and migrating its infrastructure to Google Cloud Platform while handling ongoing internal demands and refactoring more than 100 custom plugins.

Working closely with Liferay Professional Services, global Liferay teams, and internal developers, QAD converted and modernized its plugins (including multilingual friendly‑URL support) and moved to GCP with Linux, cloud load balancing, and updated storage. The result was a successful DXP upgrade, a revamped public site in 15 languages, faster development velocity (10–15 plugin updates weekly), improved performance and reliability, and a platform positioned for simpler future upgrades.
