Case Study: ČSOB Group achieves a faster, customer-centric multi-channel portal with Liferay

European bank adapts to changing market

ČSOB Group, part of the KBC bank-assurance group and a leading Czech financial services provider for retail, SMEs and private banking, needed to overhaul its online channels into a centralized, customer-centric web platform. The bank’s objectives were to simplify multi-channel access, expand online services and shorten time to market for new offerings, so it sought a robust, service-rich portal that could integrate with its existing J2EE landscape.

After evaluating options, ČSOB selected Liferay Portal and partnered with Emeldi to migrate from SharePoint to Liferay 6.0 EE. The project used an automated SharePoint-to-Liferay content migration and ported about 50 custom .NET web parts into JSR-286 Java portlets over three months, while adding enterprise features like link and reference management and a Google Analytics framework. The result was a faster, more responsive portal that improved customer productivity and user experience; Liferay and Emeldi continue to support and enhance the bank’s enterprise portal, strengthening ČSOB’s competitive edge.
