York University, Canada’s third-largest university serving nearly 55,000 students, faced frustration from students overwhelmed by fragmented information and tools. The institution needed a standards-compliant, highly integrable solution that aggregated personalized academic and administrative data while remaining simple enough for a large student body to use with minimal training.

York implemented My.Yorku.ca on Liferay Portal to unify grades, class schedules, finances, library accounts, calendars, news and more, with role-based customization and mobile responsiveness. The portal became a one-stop hub (supporting up to 18,000 daily visits), enabled a prospective-student site and Moodle integration, and improved student access, engagement and retention.
