However, the lab’s entirely manual request-to-results process — with no single view of a test’s status — led to lost or incorrect kits and samples, unnecessary follow-up appointments, long delays and patient stress.
Working with Dunn Solutions on the Liferay platform (hosted on Microsoft Azure), the organization launched a patient portal that unifies patients, physicians and lab staff. The portal offers simple registration, single sign-on and two‑factor authentication, real‑time test tracking, geolocated drop‑off points, controlled result release, dynamic visualizations, notifications and integrations with EMR, logistics and accounting systems. The result: fewer visits, reduced patient stress, more accurate results and a streamlined workflow where doctors can order tests and deliver results from one site.
