Ampersand, a loyalty-marketing firm serving Grupo Posadas and other major clients, needed to deliver separate, branded loyalty portals with distinct business rules for multiple industries. Their legacy platform couldn’t support per-program customization or integrate core systems, so Ampersand sought a Service-Oriented Architecture combining content management, business rules management and an enterprise service bus to enable flexible, client-specific portals.

They selected Liferay for its customization and integration capabilities and worked with Global Quark to implement it alongside RedHat Fuse ESB, RedHat JBoss BRMs, Apache Camel, Siebel and Oracle, using Liferay hooks and portlets and Liferay Gold/LESA support. The new platform produced responsive, multi-device portals that are independently maintained, serve a program with 1 million users, cut program launch time from one year to two months, reduced portal execution time by 30%, lowered maintenance effort by 40% and trimmed total cost of ownership by 25%.
