EDF Group, a major energy provider serving about 35.1 million customers (26.5 million in France), faced a fragmented internal landscape of more than 400 intranet sites. The company needed a single, personalized entry point that would simplify access to HR and other business services, integrate existing systems and boost collaboration across its global workforce.

The answer was "Vivre EDF Online," a Liferay‑based corporate social network built in four months that combines communication, collaboration, social features, e‑services and mobile access. Today it hosts roughly 390,000 content items (including nearly 110,000 articles), a 217,000‑record employee directory, 540 communities and 213,750 users (57,000 unique visitors/day in 2017), while consolidating services like HR self‑service, scheduling tools and classifieds to streamline work and reduce calls to HR.
