A banking portal developed for communities of migrants living in Italy improved customer experience in a brand new market

BPER Banca, the flagship of Italy’s BPER Group (active in 18 regions with more than 1,200 branches and 2 million customers), set out to reach an underserved “blue ocean” market by building a customer portal for migrant communities in Italy. The challenge was to integrate multiple solutions into a single, highly collaborative, multilingual platform that could support different territories, personalized workflows and rapid project development.

BPER adopted a lean, start-up approach and chose Liferay with cloud deployment, working with Noovle to build Idea Management and Idea Generation modules and integrate Google Hangouts and Translate for multilingual collaboration. The BeAtlas portal launched in three months, attracted 1,000+ registrants from 18 communities in its first year, enabled lower-cost, faster project delivery, and won national awards (ABI Prize 2015 and Prize for Innovation by the Presidenza del Consiglio 2016).
