Dublin City Council faced a fragmented, manual SAM process that relied on multiple Excel spreadsheets and a small team to track software licenses, making searches slow, error-prone and exposing the organisation to compliance risk. In 2011 the Council engaged License Dashboard (with partner Phoenix Software) and implemented License Manager, License Dashboard’s Software Asset Management platform, to replace the spreadsheets and centralise license data.

License Dashboard’s License Manager integrated with SCCM, automated discovery connectors, de-duplicated records and provided dashboards and reporting to support audits and senior management. In daily use for eight years, License Dashboard’s solution enabled proactive SAM, reduced manual effort, improved IT security and compliance, identified software reuse and cost‑saving opportunities, and delivered clear ROI through better reporting and reduced software spend.
