A 220-employee non-profit organization partnered with Liazon to address the need for greater employee choice, more price transparency, and better long-term control of benefits costs. The organization wanted to improve its medical and ancillary offerings without losing budget predictability.
Using Liazon’s private exchange and defined contribution approach, the organization expanded from two medical plans to eight and grew ancillary options from seven to 13, including HSA, FSA, telemedicine, pet insurance, and more. The result was stronger employee engagement and better cost control: all eight medical plans were selected, total medical premium came in 1.6% below the prior year, and the employer’s contribution stretched further, putting 7% of medical premium cost back into employees’ pockets.
