An Exchange Brings More Choice and Greater Value for the Benefits Buck

New York Property Management Company, a 250-employee residential property manager, wanted to offer more choice to a diverse workforce while simplifying benefits communication and controlling rising costs. The company worked with Liazon to move to a private benefits exchange and defined contribution model, replacing a limited plan lineup with a more flexible approach to coverage.

With Liazon’s exchange, employees gained access to four medical plans, including an HDHP, plus a broader range of ancillary benefits such as dental, vision, HSA/FSA, critical illness, life, pet, telemedicine, and more. The result was wider plan selection, with 74% of employees choosing lower-cost medical plans than before, 70% selecting a cheaper dental option, and employee medical cost share dropping from 21% to 14%, putting 7% of premiums back into employees’ pockets while helping the employer set future benefits spending at $1.95M.
