Case Study: Howard University achieves a streamlined, centralized admissions process with Liaison's CAS™

A Liaison Case Study

With CAS™, the Admissions Process Goes From Scattered to Streamlined at Howard University

Howard University faced a fragmented, labor-intensive admissions process: some programs used paper or bespoke applications, others used an expensive online platform that cost the school $50,000 annually, and faculty had to review applicants from spreadsheets—creating delays and reporting challenges. While attending a Common App conference, Howard learned that Liaison’s Centralized Application Service (CAS™) communities (including GradCAS™, BusinessCAS™ and EngineeringCAS™) are available to institutions at no cost and pursued those solutions.

Liaison implemented its CAS™ platforms and the WebAdMIT™ administrative backend, provided onsite training, and Howard was live within six weeks; Liaison also rapidly addressed issues like designation overload and incorporated user feedback into updates. The result was a centralized, streamlined workflow—applicants no longer complete separate forms for each program, directors make final decisions through the system, application volume increased in the first cycle, application counts are now accurate, and the university removed the prior $50,000 annual platform expense.
