Rush University’s College of Health Sciences Improves Quality and Quantity of Applications

Rush University’s College of Health Sciences, led by Dina Batlivala, faced a need to simplify the applicant experience and preserve both the quality and quantity of applicants as prospective students applied to many programs nationally. To address this, Rush adopted Liaison’s Centralized Application Services (CAS™) to create a common, electronic application system across its diverse set of master’s and professional programs.

Liaison implemented CAS solutions program-by-program (e.g., CSDCAS™, AHCAS™, CASPA™, OTCAS™, NursingCAS™ and others), reducing manual work and allowing faster screening of minimum requirements. As a result, Rush now processes about 7,000 applications per cycle and matriculates 300–350 students (with some programs receiving 2,000 applicants for 30 seats), expanded its national applicant pool beyond the Midwest, handled growth without adding staff, and improved reporting accuracy to meet state and federal requirements.
