Case Study: Metropolitan State University (Minnesota) achieves streamlined admissions and increased applicant diversity with Liaison's GradCAS and BusinessCAS

A Liaison Case Study

How Metro State University Went From Fragmentation to Efficiency Using CAS

Metropolitan State University in Minnesota, which serves more than 10,000 students across multiple campuses, faced a fragmented and very manual application process under the Minnesota State system that produced inconsistent program requirements, limited visibility for program directors, and poor applicant communication that hurt recruitment and diversity. To address these challenges, the university partnered with Liaison to implement Liaison’s centralized application platforms, GradCAS and BusinessCAS.

Liaison worked closely with Metropolitan State University through weekly meetings, standardizing program naming and requirements and providing WebAdMIT as a temporary admissions-management solution during SIS/CRM transitions. The deployment of GradCAS and BusinessCAS immediately expanded the applicant pool to all 50 states and more than 100 countries, improved applicant qualification via an application fee, and delivered real-time visibility for program directors—reducing administrative burden, enabling earlier engagement with prospects, and measurably improving recruitment efficiency with Liaison’s implementation support.
