xpedx, one of North America’s largest distribution companies, faced a complex master data challenge after multiple acquisitions left it with numerous legacy systems holding similar product and supplier data in inconsistent formats. It needed a single system of record to streamline item creation, synchronize catalogs with suppliers, and strengthen data governance across more than 13,000 suppliers and hundreds of thousands of items.

Liaison Technologies implemented Liaison Enterprise Content Director, a SaaS-based MDM platform, and a custom web interface called Datapoint to standardize item entry and maintenance. The result was a single real-time record of truth, 37,000 duplicate items removed, and contractor staffing for item conversions cut from 60 to 15, helping xpedx centralize work in IT and reduce costs while improving data accuracy and accessibility.
