Case Study: Amazon achieves rapid, scalable, cost-effective SOA data transformations with Liaison Technologies' Contivo

A Liaison Technologies Case Study

Amazon Deploys Liaison Contivo® as a Critical Component of their Service-Oriented Architecture

Amazon, a technology-driven leader in online retail, moved from monolithic two-tier applications to a distributed service-oriented architecture (SOA) and needed an integration platform that would run on commodity Linux, scale horizontally, and drive down cost per transaction. Their existing commercial messaging solution couldn’t meet deployment, scalability or licensing requirements, and the enterprise integration team required a best-of-breed tool able to handle very complex data transformations for thousands of partners.

They selected Liaison Contivo®, which met Amazon’s architectural and transformation needs and deployed rapidly—proof-of-concept and training in two weeks, initial rollout in three months and full deployment within six months. Contivo processed peak volumes of more than one million transactions per day using over 100 transforms for 1,000+ partners, enabling the SOA design, lowering transaction costs, and ultimately expanding adoption of the tool across other Amazon teams.
